I know enough to know that when FBI investigators respond to an incident like this, they don't have to collect the servers...they capture the evidence by making an exact byte-for-byte copy of the hard drives. They do the same thing for the machine’s memory, and they monitor and store the traffic passing through the victim’s (the DNC was the victim...you know that right?)network. The images provide the evidence...not the hardware.
And I know that this has been standard procedure in computer intrusion investigations for decades...
