of the game. Length has become part of the modern lingo because people now care about wingspan and a 6'8 guy with long arms has more effective height (length) than a 6'10 guy with short arms.
Wing however, has been around a LONG time. First as a spot on the floor and then as a catchall term for the merging of the SG and the SF into the same position....which, as noted below happened at least 20 years ago.
