Joe Kleine, a 6-foot-11 freshman center at Notre Dame, plans to transfer to either the University of Missouri or the University of Arkansas, a newspaper said Thursday.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said it talked with Kleine at his Slater, Mo., home and quoted Kleine as saying he quit Notre Dame 'because of a lot of personal reasons.

'I'm getting a lot of calls (from coaches), but there are only two schools I'm interested in. I want to be closer to home. If there was a major college in Slater, I'd go to it.'

Kleine said he contacted Missouri Coach Norm Stewart and Arkansas Coach Eddie Sutton to inform them of his interest in attending their schools.
