If your employer provides tuition assistance, it is taxable income to you (that is current law)

The University reduced the tuition in exchange for free/lower cost teaching in order to game the tax system. That loophole should be closed. Pay the Grad Student the appropriate amount for teaching and charge the going rate for tuition..
