many companies have have rules about behavior when off the clock but still in uniform. Why? Because if I work for UPS and do something stupid while in their uniform I hurt their corporate image.

The NFL players have hurt the image and, more importantly, the bottom line of a multi-billion dollar enterprise. Of course the owners have the right to curtail behavior of uniformed employees that is costing them money.
