fired a gun maybe half a dozen times in my lifetime.
These have absolutely nothing to do with my support of the second amendment. I personally think it is valuable but see the point that something needs to be done about gun violence. Guns in no way cause the problems but a whacko with a gun is much more dangerous than a whacko with a machete.
But if we are going to make changes to a constitutionally protected right we need to make sure we do it correctly by amending the constitution. Almost every gun law currently on the books violates the second amendment. When we intentionally weaken the second amendment by skirting it we set a precedent for doing the same thing to other amendments which you may hold dear.
