It gives an accurate picture of the tenacity and ferocity displayed by the Japanese military when defending Pacific Islands. Consider what the allies would have faced in the Home Islands. And also remember that the Home Islands were heavily fortified, virtually every town and village, every road intersection, etc. The casualty estimate for an invasion of the Japanese home islands was one million allied soldiers.
