Who is "his" and what "documents" are you referring to?

The IRS would have received trump's tax return when he filed it - that's the only thing they would have for an extended period of time. Mueller didn't CI in to look at the copy of the return that trump filed with the IRS - they're digging thru financial transactions that the IRS has NEVER possessed.
