the coaching change was going to happen regardless. And it sounds like the Porters had already decided to return to CoMo so long as KA was fired and some other coach who they could at least tolerate was hired.
Although it would be super awkward for Romar and the Porters' relationship to assume that their decision to go back to CoMo is what actually led to UW firing Romar, it kinda sounds like that is probably how it was gonna go down. UW was probably planning to wait one more year and let MPJ suit up for them and then can Romar the year after, so maybe the Porters just said the heck with it let's accelerate that process now.
Certainly is a better outcome for Jontay if that was the case. Even if it was just that they had no assurances that Romar would be kept on after next year, there was zero reason for them as a family to risk Jontay being stranded playing for some random new UW coach in 2 years.
