versus a Democrat help the situation?

For me, voting is primarily an economic decision. I see the Republican party as one which cuts taxes for the very wealthy and reduces services for the middle and lower class. Since I'm not extremely wealthy, I favor taxes on the rich which can then be used to better things for everyone else.
