1) the beatdown of the KA years has people hungry for decent basketball (I'm not blaming KA, but the record was what it was), so every perceived success is magnified;

2) Hope of finally opening up STL market again. It's been so long since we've had meaningful recruits from the market and we've watched a lot of blue chippers go elsewhere. If he can back it up with on court success, then it could feed the program for years.
