Instead of treating health insurance the way we do now, treat it like car insurance for catastrophic events.
Open market for insurance.. decouple it from employers.
Graduate from college or high school. Whatever. Get a job.. buy a policy. Policy includes terms to expand coverage to future spouse and kids.
Down the road, you have kids. They are under this policy now. You make payments until they are old enough to take over, whether they are 18 or 45 doesn't matter. That policy follows them the rest of their life.
If they have kids, repeat cycle.
No pre-existing conditions as long as the policy is paid.
