Those excuses are going to be the same ones thrown back in his face when he has to find a new coach after this season by a disgruntled segment of the fanbase who just bought into him promoting such absurd excuses.

I'm not saying he needs to walk out and say 'everyone enjoy you last year following Kim because he is retiring after this season whether he likes it or not', but he doesn't have to proactively make false excuses on his behalf that if he has even a rudimentary understanding of the situation he knows are not valid.
