Neither one of them could credibly be seen as filling the critical holes that D'Amour and Gillis left. Although I have my doubts about how effective Gillis was in the first place. If they can make that not so easy transition from being a teammate and friend to being a coach, great. They can get some valuable experience here at an elite program that will help them down the road if they really want to make coaching a career.
But the really important hires are yet to come, and hopefully soon. The longer you get into the school year the harder it will be to get someone with the right kind of experience to come here.
