... mostly due to the new coaching staff. Under the old staff, I'd predict a very good defense that might have taken a step back and an improved but still pretty bad offense. I think those predictions still hold but it is possible that the chemistry of the coaching staff and the way they practice and prepare will make both sides better than we think or worse than we think.
WVU is pretty predictable: they'll be good on offense and bad on defense. Maybe very bad on defense and very good on offense.
Here's one thing that nobody has talked about: could our defense have looked so good because our offense was so bad? Did teams start and stay vanilla/conservative on offense because they figured they wouldn't need to score many points? FL, AR, TN, MSU ... they might have all scored more points on us had they needed to ... or no way?
My gut feeling is that this game won't be that close: one of the teams will get it going with a break or two and a big play or two and the other one will panic. I expect we'll be often futile on offense, but we still have more big play potential this year. If we get a break or two, or a couple of big plays from our new offensive weapons, we could still roll them ... or it could happen the other way around.
