I would be over-the-world excited about signing Crowe and Bryant. I mean, I would be beside myself.
Instead, I am worried. We must have spent huge NIL money on Crowe, but almost certainly will have him for only one year. Top-10 recruits are never in college more than a single season in this day and age, no matter how they fare their freshman seasons. If he scores 18 ppg and is 1st team All-SEC, then that is a good investment. But, man, that seems like a stretch.
Bryant will be an 18 year old undersized forward in the SEC. Unless he is a complete anomaly, he will need one or two years to develop. That almost never happens anymore in the transfer market.
I so hope I am wrong and trust Gates, but would be more excited if we landed two top five players in the transfer portal. “Developing” players is important, but it is rare to do so over 3-4 years with 4 or 5 star recruits.
Fingers crossed.
