They weren't asked to kneel

They were asked to stand. Whatever they believe, it isn't hard to be respectful and stand. It's not even their prayer, they are just being asked to stand because those are the traditions of that venue. It's not hard stuff.
I went to a Christian high school. It was only about 80% Christian. I knew Muslims, Buddhists, and a couple others that went there. Every day we had a little chapel service in the gym for 10-15 minutes. Nobody ever had a problem being respectful, ever, during any of those chapel services because everybody knew that was part of the deal regardless of what they believed. And none of those kids were jagoffs about it. They just sat thru the little services and went on about their days. One of them is a good friend of mine to this day and we've learn a lot from one another over the years.
Somehow we've lost the ability to be respectful towards others with whom we might not agree. That's too bad.
