In 2022 I got a letter saying they haven't received

my 2020 return.

Well, they haven't "processed" it yet, so in essence, I hadn't sent it. However, i was given the option that if I hadn't sent it yet, I should do it now and pay the penalty, if I think I did, I can wait for them to get to it but pay more of a penalty later if they actually didn't have it.

They cashed the check I sent with it 2 weeks after I mailed it.
