Lee's Summit, Missouri, is named for two reasons: "Summit" refers to the town's location on the highest point of the railroad line between Kansas City and St. Louis, and "Lee" is believed to be a misspelling of the name of early settler Dr. Pleasant John Graves Lea, according to local historians.
