never have started, and that they would both stop fighting and come to some sort of agreement they could both live with, even if one or both wasn't totally satisfied.

I think he rightly sees Iran as a threat/danger, but would strongly prefer not going to war with them uless it became absolutely necessary, but he is being pushed into it by the powerful Israeli lobby.
