As he said, yeah makes sense, once off transaction, fine.
But for people that don’t own a lot of property: cars, houses, etc.. maybe they are low-income and have to rent a house/apartment cause they can’t afford to own:
If they eliminate property tax it doesn’t impact them as much as someone who owns a house, multiple cars, multiple properties, etc. But increasing sales tax on things the NEED to buy and don’t have a choice like groceries, food, clothes, toilet paper, etc, on an already low budget can really drive an entire portion of the population into debt, then the poor become more poor and the U.S. as a whole suffers
Unfortunately we still need roads, fire departments, schools, etc
