Considering Mid-MO could get around a 1000 people. on average, when MU baseball was respectable with MLB talent, I just think MU baseball is a fool’s errand compared to the investment needed. The ONLY argument that I’ve seen that makes any sense is that the SEC would have a problem with Mizzou not having baseball (even if a total embarrassment to the league). I would like that hypothesis to actually be stated by the SEC because I’ve never heard them say it. Vandy doesn’t have softball. Why aren’t they up their ass?
Anyway, no way, no how do I see baseball a worthy investment that does anything to galvanize a large enough part of the MU community to warrant the investment needed to even be middling. Especially considering MU is akin to the Royals going against the Yankees and Dodgers in this new world order and needs as few sports as possible to fund, with the overwhelming amount of investment going to football and basketball, just to stay middling, in a world where TX is projected to have about a $45 million dollar payroll for football in 2025. Thank you Richard Miller but your $60 million plus is going to go fast in this world.
