they started getting better, but still weren't quite up to par. I thought GM had a pretty bad reputation, but my wife got a GM credit card with 5% back on GM products & racked up a lot of rebates. We ended up with a couple of GM minivans & a Malibu. They were decent, but I wasn't all that impressed. I have an old Subaru & it just seems better engineered. It's easy to get to everything and to maintain.

We have a couple of Chevy Bolts. They seem like pretty good little cars. Low maintenance, but we haven't really had them a long time. They had a battery recall, but were under warranty. That actually worked out very well for us. They didn't have new batteries for months after the recall for the 1st one so they let us drive it, recommending that we don't charge it over 80%, which was no big deal for us 99% of the time & told us to rent vehicles if we wanted/needed to. So we rented big SUVs several times & did so for a month or more at a time to get the lower daily price they asked for. We just sent them the gas bills, which they paid for, and drove them & still used the Bolt. My youngest son was in mechanical engineering at SIUE & was on their BAJA racing team. He & the team would drive up to Minnesota with their little race car & take the rental SUV to haul most of the team members. They did the same thing for a race in Tennessee & my other kids met him out there & they did some Smokey Mountains camping & hiking. We also took one on a family vacation in Colorado.

One might complain about the battery technology, but it was pretty new at the time & didn't inconvenience us at all. It was actually a blessing.

I think like 6 Bolts had caught on fire, but from what I've read the EVs have a much lower probability of fire than ICE vehicles.
