every coach should stay with the game plan no matter the score or circumstances. If you've rushed for yards in the first half and are losing 20-3, maybe you should pass more. But that would be "caving" to the opposition.

Every general should stick with the battle plan that was decided on weeks before the battle. Before the weather turned bad and before the enemy was reinforced. Just don't "cave".

Sometimes you need to revise the plan. And you do't need to tell everyone what it is.

Eisenhower once said that "Plans are useless but planning is essential".
