If you couldn't hit height weight standards, you were not eligible for promotion or awards/medals. If an officer couldn't max out their AFPT, it reflected in their evaluation (which impacted promotions and command assignments)

I see so many fat@$$ general officers on TV that it makes me wonder how they are in leadership roles.
