thought of as intellectual and he sees all issues through the emotional lens of how he wishes things could be. There is no right to happiness in this country or this life. People make decisions and they live with those decisions. Some choose poorly. That is part of this entire freedom thing.
rask is a slave to his emotions, and he comes across as one who desperately wishes he was more than what he sees in the mirror every day. That would be a sucky way to live.
