I stopped following recruiting because of it, which I suppose is no real loss.

I think the whole push first to the BCS title game, then the playoffs, has hurt CFB more than it's helped. Others will disagree. But CFB had something other sports didn't - a focus on conference games/titles and bowl games. Now both are diminished.
