Saw a very good presentation a couple years ago of how social media has brought us into tribalism.
I have a lot of liberal friends, and most reacted to the election by unfriending people that did not agree with them. Their reality is just different, and they go deeper and deeper into it.
And to add to it, social platforms use that in their processes. The so called Russian hacking was not to favor one side or the other, but to play into peoples' belief systems.
It is seen here a lot too as a microcosm.
