Crazy liberal guy last night

At a bowling league last night, and went to bar afterwards and a friend of a friend got talking a bit of politics.
He is a Trump hater, which is fine, whatever.
Then we started talking about how this is Trump's last term, and there will be a mid term election where Congress can stop what Trump is doing and all that.
He then went on to say we might never have elections anymore. Trump will stop them all.
I then said, well, states run elections, and the Supreme Court would not let him go that far anyways. He kept going on. Even my liberal friend thought he was going bat**** crazy.
How do mature adults actually think this way and get down to that reasoning. I also keep saying that Trump was President before and the world did not end.
And of course, when I say that, I now get labeled as a Trump voter.
Just insane the stupidity out there.
