responsibility for having a plan to get people out by May 1, 2021 (Trump's deadline to withdraw ALL troops.) Biden kicked that can down the road based on advice from military leadership.

Military leadership wanted to maintain a PERMANENT military presences (2,500) in Afghanistan - that wasn't trump's plan, nor was it biden's. AND I agree with both here.

Since the miliary leadership's desire for a permanent base was dashed, it was their job to get people.
