and perversion of the free market. They sometimes get things through like rent controls, minimum wage laws, various taxes and subsidies and government grants... all manipulating prices and distorting markets. Some people, usually those preferred by government insiders, make out like the bandits that they are, while others are stolen from, or put out of business.

The government should not be picking winners and losers. At best, they should be helping to create and maintain a fair and honest level playing field for everyone.
