The idea that waiters and waitresses are now paying their fair share of taxes is a joke since they can still underreport cash tips. I'm all for leaving things as they are.
But making tips non-taxable will lead to companies turning everyone into tippable employees, passing their costs onto consumers without passing on the savings. They'll take that change in the law and turn it into a mile wide tunnel.
Congress can never craft legislation that can't be worked around by corporate lawyers and money.
No thanks.
