NE US that the government decided to close back in the Spring of 2024 because the cost of storing refined gasoline being high relative to crude oil. The article you referenced has nothing to do with the US crude oil reserve. The reserve will stay closed after the sell unless Congress initiates the creation of another reserve. The action to close the reserve was initiated in Congress.
