I think in Missouri, if you live on the course you assume the risk, unless you can prove it was intentional. Last year, I hooked a drive left on my course and a car came around the corner at met the ball. It looked like a bullet hole. It was an elderly couple and they were shaken up. I went ahead and payed for the window replacement, its the right thing to do. Plus the richochet landed my ball back in bounds, which was a plus.
