Just the opposite. Mizzou's is from the BOC By defintion that will not be hands-on or any of the sort of "wide ranging responsibilities" It's an oversight committee up of BOCs, who have much more to do in their position than just athletics.
You don't understand the nature of bureaucracy. Superiors are not as technically competent as their understudies, nor hands on.
Clemson's committee is not made up of Curators or Regents.
Look at Clemson's description:
The Athletic Academic Oversight Committee (AAOC) establishes and oversees systematic review of University academic policies and current practices in relation to academic integrity and institutional control within athletics. The AAOC will:
provide information and recommendations regarding academic policies/practices for athletics;
maintain a process for systematic data collection, review, and analysis in areas of potential risk related to academic integrity and institutional control (e.g. athletics admissions, eligibility, grading, advising, class attendance, major/department/course/professor clustering);
establish and monitor recommended thresholds in areas related to academic integrity and policies that signal need for immediate attention.
The AAOC will provide an annual report to the President with copies to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Director of Athletics, and the Faculty Senate.
That's more than just academics for athletes, it's more hands-on then you are accusing the BOC of. You're just naive about how things work
