police won't actively do anything regarding a stolen car beyond taking your statement for a police report that you can turn into your insurance.
If it happens to show up abandoned somewhere then it might get reported as recovered once someone calls it in to have it towed, but thats your best hope for a stolen car being recovered nowadays.
if its not a violent crime, the police really aren't interested in persuing it in any manner.
