but to clarify:
- sterk had a broad working list of potential candidates, as every AD does
- when sterk fired odom, he narrowed that list based on who he wanted and who fit within the board's budget parameters
- drink was on that list, along with a bunch of other turds
- sterk showed the board what their budget could get, and convinced them to spend more
- armed with a decent budget, drink became target #1 and sterk pursued him aggressively
- drink was hired the day after he finished his conference championship game, 9 days after odom was fired
