drink was a candidate from day 1, became the #1 candidate relatively quickly, was recruited hard by sterk and other important administrators, and was hired 9 days after odom was fired. that simply doesn't happen if the process isn't extremely well managed with a clear purpose and clear desired outcome. the foolishness about turmoil and the board rejecting candidates and taking over and miraculously finding drinkwitz at the 11th hour is simply childish and naive.
