Very very Kumbaya.
Let situations such as Taiwan "work itself out"? First, I'd argue we are doing that by reminding the Chinese that they are surrounded by enemies. The strategy right now is let the Chinese believe they can either win and get the hell beat of them, lose and get the hell beat of them or tie and get the hell beat of them.
That's how things will "work itself out". It's not going to be some realization by the Chinese that they don't have any right to take Taiwan. Just ask Taiwan about that. China is good at one thing: manufacturing cheap goods. And they're not even that good at that anymore since they're wages have risen, despite their manipulation, to a point where they are no longer price competitive.
So China invading Taiwan essentially is a threat to them militarily, BUT ALSO to their ability to obtain energy, food supplies and just about everything else they need just to LIVE.
I think the pivot from the Middle East to China and the Pacific was made just in time within the last decade or so because now we have a ring of allies around China in Japan, South Korea, Australia and the Philippines. More lifting by them means less lifting by us. Which is good, right?
Israel is its own mess. There are no easy answers in that situation and I've been amazed at how black and white some people view it. Hamas is to blame for massacring innocent people and Israel has responded by doing the same 20x over.
BUT...since Bretton Woods America has underwritten free trade for EVERYONE via our military and, specifically, our Navy and Air Force. EVERYONE has benefitted from that, including our enemies. Stability = free trade = free trade agreements = increased trade = countries can obtain what they can't make / grow = everyone's much happier and wealthier.
You know who benefits the most? Anyone reading this.
