But academically, it is a big deal considering your worth to your institution are measured by your original ideas and the work you put into disseminating them.
It's somewhat similar to a sales guy stealing a colleagues sales leads or or whatever sales thingy's that they get all worked up about. Is it illegal? No. Are they going to work there anymore? Also, no.
In the end, this was made out to be a big deal mostly because of R vs D theater. Partially because of Jew vs anti-Jew squabbling, and a bit (as some posters have pointed out) of pointing out the cultural and academic decay brought about by DEI policies. In the end, Harvard was and is a hedge fund with an attached indoctrination camp. It will continue to be no matter who is in charge next.
