1. Their recruiting and trending had been improving under their previous coach. They went from 0 to 5 wins in 3 years, and the final season most of their losses were by 4-7 points. Many thought the firing of Marcus Arroyo was premature due to the trend of the program. AD just wanted his own guy.
2. They have beaten 1 FBS team with a winning record this year. The combined record of the teams they've beaten is 24-48.
Not to use the old cliche, but if I'm a P5 program with an opening, I want to see him build and sustain a program with his own players first. We've seen countless stories of coaches doing well with inherited players, then showing severe downturn. Not saying that will happen here but I'd pump the brakes a bit.
