who did nothing but speak out against oppression and injustice., mostly pointed at the Jewish people (message is universal though). Jesus did the same. To be a prophet wasn’t modern day idea of being a fortune teller. It was those who warned that the evil path being taken leads to destruction.

Much of Christian history and the present is hard to swallow because the words and actions are so far separate from the the Bible text actually says.

There is a lot of evil stuff in the Bible. Slavery, the treatment of women, war. But the point is to recognize that God meets people were they are at and nudges them forward towards justice and mercy. A Jew or a Christian is supposed to notice this trend and continue forward closer to the example Jesus taught. That while we aren’t there, God will meet us where we are at and help us forward.
