in the 2nd half (in other words, how often was Mizzou *ACTUALLY* in a position where we could have given up the lead)
10 (9 of which were in the 3rd quarter).
We were up 17-10 at the half, went 3 and out, and gave Memphis the ball. They had an opportunity to tie the game, and promptly went 3 and out. We then scored in 3 plays to go up 24-10.
Then when we were up 24-17, we went 3 and out again and gave them the ball back. They had the ball for 7 plays, it ended on a 4th down interception.
We then went up 27-17.
Memphis never had the ball again any closer than 10, we never had the ball again up less than 7.
They ran exactly 1 play in the 4th quarter where they could have tied the game. We intercepted it. We were never in danger of giving up the lead the rest of the game.
We need to stop saying we barely won this game. The score was close, but the game wasn't really ever in doubt. Memphis is a good team, and they weren't ever going to beat us.
