Almost all the violence in these areas is gang violence. Sure some of it creeps over, but the odds of anyon getting mugged after the game are very low. And this in an area you consider high crime.

As for your first point, those places are businesses (at least most of them). If people weren't going for fear of crime those businesses would in fact, not survive.
