neighborhood they effectively gave themselves a 20% rate hike. Several neighbors noticed an immediate change in their "consumption" within the month. A call to KCPL got me the answer "you must have an appliance going out".
The only neighbor who didn't see an increase had his meter replaced a few years prior when the old one shot craps.
We had bought our house a year prior and had all the past electrical usage stats and used them in our budget.
Now you would think if the water company had 20% of its product leaking out on or underground, they would take quick action to fix the problem. But KCPL was willing to let the old meters be inaccurate for years.
