But the economy was shut down though and that was the primary cause of inflation (along with the bailouts). It wasn't Trump's plan but that's what effectively happened. I work in oil. We entirely quite drilling both because of Covid and because the price of oil cratered. When the economy started to open back up there was more money to spend than there was products to buy - same was true for oil. Supply and demand drove prices to where we see them now. It's neither president's fault but the economy did shut down and Trump was powerless to stop it.
