I love to watch baseball, from little league to major league. I love college baseball most because its a sport I can afford to buy a season ticket to and the games are only about 5 minutes from my driveway. And it's Mizzou.
Do I love to see Mizzou win? Absolutely! Do I wish they'd win more? Absolutely.
But what I have loved most about following Mizzou Baseball is watching Jayce Tingler do a drag bunt into the home/mound/1B no-man's land while the fielders KNOW that's what he's going to do and he still makes it to 1st safely. It's watching Jake Priday turn a windy disappointment of a Friday night game into a riot of entertainment by hitting bomb after bomb after bomb. It's watching Max Scherzer develop from a goofy and wild freshman into a masterful veteran on the mound.
This year it's going to be about watching Luke MAnn scoop up balls at 3rd and knocking pitches over the wall. Sam Horn showing he really does belong on the pitching mound. 5th year CoMo homeboy catcher Tre Morris play his guts out just for the joy of the game, all the while knowing it's probably his last season as a player at any level. Tony Neubeck having the best year of his career so far, making a lot of baseball fans and baseball scouts happy.
That's not defeatist. It's not settling for mediocrity.
It's rooting for great baseball moments.
