They knew it was bad enough in Week 2 that he needed surgery, it couldn't be hurt worse. The criteria for surgery was met. They kept playing him because he couldn't get hurt worse though I've said not treating this early on could cause degenerative effects later in his life. Could not would. Mr. Cook obviously has a high pain tolerance or was getting medicated to play. Many players want to play if they can breathe. It's up to the coaches to be reasonable.
