the election results, but the problem with your statement is that you suggest politicians should change what they believe, or say they believe, in order to win elections.

If you really believe something that is out of favor with the general public, either you don't run for elective office, or you make your case to the public to change their mind.

It is a sad commentary in my opinion, to tell people to change what they believe in, or just lie about it, in order to win the elections.
