the bank for him after the past decade + as the worst program in the country. It was bad enough for long enough + burning through so many failed coaches that when they finally get lucky with a guy, they go all-in & do everything they can to keep him. Also, after being so bad, they won’t pull a Nub or Wiscy & fire him when they struggle a little (or even a lot).
It all comes down to what he wants. Facilities, security, $$$, chance to get to the playoff, have a Snyder-like legacy? They’ll always be basketball first but after the horrible decade, they know they have to strike now why the proverbial iron is hot. Go somewhere else with more pressure or be the big fish in a small pond? He’s no Saban (age wise) but he’s also not a young guy. Does he want to take on another turnaround? I wouldn’t want to live there but he might like it & be comfortable.
I’m not convinced he’ll leave - all comes down to what’s important for him/his wife.
